Jefferson Hospital is the recipient of a Georgia HEART Hospital Program grant of $100,000 donated by Queensborough National Bank & Trust. These funds are used as part of the program’s initiative to help financially assist rural and critical access hospitals in Georgia. By increasing their funding, the program helps provide and sustain quality healthcare to thousands of patients throughout the state.
Jefferson Hospital plans to use donations received in 2022 to fund capital expenditures (resurfacing worn and damaged parking areas and replacing end of life roofs on off-campus clinic buildings), electronic medical record upgrades to increase efficiency, and equipment upgrades to better serve patients. Funds also plan to be used for retention and recruitment efforts to ensure they continue to have an incredible workforce to provide excellent healthcare services to Jefferson and surrounding counties.
“Jefferson Hospital would not be able to pursue these opportunities without the support of each of our Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program contributors and we extend our sincere thank you to Queensborough National Bank & Trust for the incredible contribution,” says CEO of Jefferson Hospital, Wendy Martin.
“We are honored to be able to partner with the Georgia HEART Hospital Program and to support a local hospital like Jefferson Hospital,” says CFO of Queensborough National Bank & Trust, Phil Polhill. “We appreciate all they do to care for our local community.”
The Georgia HEART Hospital Program works in conjunction with the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit Bill, enabling businesses and taxpayers to redirect their Georgia income tax liability to help support qualifying hospitals. Participation in the Georgia HEART Program is limited to Georgia hospitals that meet qualifying criteria established by the law.
