Melissa graduated from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology. She also recieved a graduate banking degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. She has over 31 years of banking experience in Hinesville, Georgia and its surrounding markets.

Melissa and her husband Timmy have been married for over 26 years and reside in Long County, Georgia. Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors and attending horse shows.
